The wood in an old warding story
Research published by Fudan University's centre for excavated texts examines early Chinese records of sour-jujube branches and implements used to ward off ghosts and misfortune. The reference is striking: an everyday tree became part of a cultural language of defence against the unknown. This amulet draws on that wider jujube-wood association, bringing a remembered protective material into a contemporary keepsake.
